How To Build An Office - Which Came First, the Practice or the Architecture? #2

howToBuildAnOffice2

Definitions of architecture are produced as much through professional concerns as they are the designs we make. Which came first, the Practice or the Architecture? explores how supposedly prosaic issues including contracts, office structure, working methods, management and job running construct the role of the architect and the kind of architecture produced, and in doing so, define the scope, power and influence of architecture.

In session two Simon Allford will be joined by Jim McKinney of Tony Fretton Architects, Joe Morris and Mary Duggan of Duggan Morris Architects and Jim Eyre of Wilkinson Eyre, who will discuss the ways in which the organisation of their office effects the nature of the work they win and the kind of architecture they produce. Short presentations will then open up to discussions with the floor.

It is recommended to attend both Which Came First, the Practice or the Architecture? sessions.

Led by Simon Allford / AHMM & Chaired by Paul Finch
